Treo 680 Unlock Doesn't Work - Treo Forum

I had a TREO 680 unlocked by Cingular and it worked fine in Honduras with a local SIM card. Recently while in the US, Cingular replaced my 680 because it just quite working for some reason. After unlocking my new 680 with Cingular unlock code my 680 said you are now unlocked. When I put my Hondo SIM card in (the same one I used with the old phone) it said you cannot use this SIM card. After 21.34 hours on the phone with both Cingular and TREO, Cingular sent me anothere new 680. After unlocking it with their code I got the same message. What gives?

Oddly enough I had the exact same issue last week. I called Cingular Tech Support and had them give me an unlock code, unlocked the phone, and away I went. While in Honduras I tried using a Tigo SIM, and got the same error message. Which provider SIM are you using?

PROBLEM SOLVED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
After I wrote this I tried entering the unlock code with the local (ALO) SIM card in. IT WORKED!
Why didn't ANYONE at Cing/ATT know this????????????

The odd thing is, once its unlocked it should stay unlocked. You shouldn't have to re-enter the code each time you put in a new SIM....thats just annoying.

Anyway, glad you found a fix to the problem!

When I got my 650 years ago it was supposed to be cingular but it turns out it was AT (pre merger) and I had to get an unlock service of of ebay., The first time I tried it did not work because I was not entering the numbers in the right order with the # signs in tghe right sequence. They talked me through it and it worked. Maybe you have had a similar problem juan. Good luck hopefully we can help you get it figured out.
