![]() | Upgrading from 600 to 680: Any suggestions? Hi all, I'm in the process of upgrading from my Verizon 600 to an AT&T 680. I've enjoyed the Treonauts blog over the past few years, and I just discovered the forums. If any forum users who've followed a similar upgrade path have any suggestions, I'd be grateful for the advice. A little background on my Treo usage: I bought my 600 in early 2005 and used it intensively over the next 18 months while spending a lot of time traveling and managing a very email-intensive organization. With the addition of SnapperMail, I *loved* the 600 for email, and I found Blazer and the Palm calendar "good enough." I was disappointed in the phone and the Palm contact list functions, but all-in-all, it met my needs. In the past year or so, I'm doing much less traveling and don't need mobile access to email nearly as much. I needed to switch from Verizon to AT&T because of signal strength in my primary location, and looking over AT&T's options, I decided the 680 was the best fit for my needs. I wish it were smaller, and I looked closely at the Samsung Blackjack, but I don't want to deal with the learning curve of an entirely new device, and I like having a touchscreen. And although I find some Palm OS features disappointing--particularly the contact list--I like the general "feel" of it. Here's what I'd really hoping I can do on the 680: * Continue to enjoy great email functionality (with SnapperMail or something else). I plugged my personal (Gmail) and my work (Exchange) addresses into SnapperMail's account configuration, and they've worked perfectly. I only got a 10MB data plan with AT&T, because I just don't use it that much, but when I need it, I really need it to work well. * Have a much better phone experience. The Bluetooth headset alone will make a big difference for me, but I'm not sure what else to expect. * I'd love to be able to search my contacts more effectively, but I'm not sure if that will be any different. * In a perfect world, I'd like a better to-do list function as well--I found the 600's so limited that I barely used it at all. At any rate, I'm looking forward to learning more here. Ed |
