Newbie with questions about address book

Hi everybody. I'm new to this forum and new to the Palm Treo phones. This looks like a place with a lot of knowledge and hopefully you'll help me. I'll probably have lots of questions. I'm reading the manual, but some things aren't going exactly like the manual says.

My first question is about the address book. I learned how to enter new contacts and I have my old one from my SIM card that I had before I got this phone. On the new contacts I've entered, I can go back and edit them. On the contacts that were already on my SIM card, it's beeping and not letting me edit those at all. It has a blue icon next to those and my new entries don't. How can I edit, delete, etc the addresses that were already on my SIM card? It's not even letting me open those.

Thanks for all help.

You can edit them, but you have to go through a different application. There is a SIM phonebook editor if you go to go into the All applications menu. I apologize I can't tell you the exact name of it off the top of my head.

if i add my new contacts to the 'palm desktop' on my computer, will it automatically add that info to my address book when i sync it? is that the easiest way?

also, what happens if i add a contact name and info to my palm desktop that's already in my address book?

Some people find it easier to add info through the Palm Desktop....some via their Treo. It's completely up to you.

Depending how you have the Address conduit setup in Hotsync Manager, you have the options to Syncronize, Desktop overwriting Palm, Palm overwriting Desktop, or Do nothing.

Syncronize will take both entries and combine them, and the rest should be obvious.

You mean you don't carry your baby with you at all times and sleep with it on the pillow next to you at night?

My 750 is my primary device, but I still have my 650. I just don't have the pocket space for another device...

I tried adding contacts through the USB cable. It tells me I'm connected to the cable/cradle (or something similar), then after a long pause says the computer can't connect with the handheld.

What should I try to get it to work?
