How to get rid of old Phone favorites?

When I set up my Treo 680, I imported a lot of stuff from my previous 600. That included a number of favorites that I no longer use: some outdated phone numbers, some applications that no longer exist, etc. I've gone through the list on the new phone deleting them, but every time I do a hot synch they come back -- more than that, I get multiple copies of all this old stuff.

So how do I really clear the Favorites list, so that the old stuff won't come back?

Try deleting all the info again (pain I know) and then set your hotsync to "Handheld overwrites desktop" before you sync. This should update your backup folder to be current with your Treo. Once your done, remember to change the hotsync settings back to allow it to sync both ways.

It was a little more complicated than that -- I use iSync to sync the Treo with stuff on my Mac, so the "Contacts" conduit isn't usually available -- but I un-disabled "Contacts," did a hot sync that way for the handheld to overwrite the desktop, and it looks as if the old and redundant favorites haven't come back after a couple of further hot syncs with the iSync setup restored.

The other thing you could have done was a hard reset, sync with a new username and then copy back whatever info you needed to keep.
