PTunes - iTUNEs - Treo Forum

As per the instructions with Ptunes and treo 680 manual i have tried to put songs on my treo by using windows media player. For some reason it wont recognise my phone. Any know how to fix this. Its driving me nuts AND i want to spice up my ring tones, but cant do that until I get some MP3s on my phone. I love this site, love my phone and thanks to Admin and all you guys who make this a great site. Thanks for you help. Alex

I'm new to the Treo but I was able to load MP3's on my 680 using the Palm Desktop Quick Install.

First, welcome to Treonauts eurotreo680! We're glad you enjoy it!

I've personally always found it easier to transfer songs over using an SD card reader. Its a simple matter of "drag and drop", and your done. Like Tattoome said, the Palm Desktop Installer works great, but can be mind-numbingly slow if you are trying to transfer even a medium amount of songs. One or two tracks, no big deal, but one or two albums.......

My 2cents, I agree with forgot. I use a card reader and place the songs that way. When I start Ptunes, Ptunes scans my SD card and finds the files automatically.

I tried the quick install and it locked up my computer. Of course, I am an idiot, I tried to install 100+ songs in one shot.

Yes, so far I've only transfered a couple of songs over using quick install. A card reader sounds like the way to go for big transfers.

I agree with the card reader being the best way. They're cheap, and usually you get one that accepts multiple formats, so you can use it with your digital camera or other devices. You may also wish to read this thread to get more info on using mp3s as ring tones.
