![]() | Hi folks... Wow, what an appropriate smiley - is exactly how I feel... just got my lovely new unlocked 680 less than a month ago online from the Palm store - just noticed that I was having problems syncing the other day (I don't sync that often - not much going on in my life right now, I guess). I get the first 'Connecting with the desktop using Cradle/Cable' message during the HotSync process, but it's not completing it (I get 'The connection between your handheld computer and the desktop could not be established, try again' message) , and the syncing process isn't registering on my Mac as well (iBook running OS 10.4). I *have* synced successfully before, but no more I guess. I looked at the actual pins on the part that goes into my Treo and I noticed that there are only five pins there - four in a row then one by itself. Shouldn't there be more than that? I've tried to look up online to see a close up of the cable port that goes into the Treo, and it does look like this pic on the Palm site if you zoom in. Honestly I've never thought to look to see how many pins are there until of course it doesn't work ![]() Does anyone know if this is common? It's not like I'm jamming it into my Treo - I'm not rough on my stuff at all, honest! Does anyone think I can get a replacement cable from the Palm store since it's only a month old? Is that the problem, or should I try this on the Palm site that suggests reinstalling the PalmConnect sync software. Help! Has this happenned to anyone else? Thanks for any comments, advice, etc. etc. Last edited by rmm; 05-03-2007 at 03:45 PM. |

![]() ![]() | i have the exact same problem with my new-ish pc. i made sure the cable is seated firmly in my treo 650. it is kinda aggravating, but sometimes i have to hold it firmly into my treo to get it to sync. and my cable has 5 pins the way you describe yours as well. |

![]() | Thanks for replying - after tinkering with my Hotsync settings it turns out somehow Hotsyncing got disabled (?!?!) maybe when I was installing MalConduit so I could get AvantGo to work. Anyway, it's good to know that the cable only has 5 pins in it - I thought I was having some kind of weird acid trip ("did I break the pins off in my sleep?!") |

| A Few Questions.... ![]() | Hi Same thing happened to me! Synch stopped working suddenly and I could see the trickle charging icon was off. I live in Peru and imagine how difficult, if at all possible, would it be to obtain a replacement cable... I tried the scientific way: rebooted PC AND did a soft reset to the 680; manually closed and re-opened the synch feature again, very carefully re-connected the synch cable, crossed my fingers and lo! everything was fine again. Whew! Copper Unlocked 680 Treo
