Question Any problems with the Treo 680

Since my 650 keeps freezing I am skeptical to buy another Treo. I love the phone but I am tired of buying a new phone every year. The problems always seem to happen when I am out o warranty. So I was wondering if anyone has had problems with their 680? Is there any freezing or have you had to replace the phone for some reason?

There have been two know problems. One is the "gibberish" fault, and the other is the battery fault. The battery fault seems to be an easier fix, but the gibberish fault seems to be an ongoing problem. There is a thread dedicated to each of these problems. You can find better information for them there.

I had a few installation issues which turned out to be user error, and the battery thing. I haven't had the gibberish issue, so far. (knock on wood)

I have had issues trying to get the bluetooth functionality to work with my new Nissan. I'm disappointed that it doesn't work, but it's not a deal breaker. If you're wanting to use a built in bluetooth kit in the car, check your manufacturer's web site for compatibility.

There have been various issues but it seems that the people who are pleased far outnumber the people who have had problems. I have had no real problems at all. It's quite stable and the battery has been fine for my work/life style. The only thing I can't do is voice dial from my bluetooth headset. A bit of a pain, but not the end of the world.

Well, my unlocked GSM 650 (on the Suncom network) never did freeze, but I am having that trouble with my unlocked GSM 680 (still on Suncom). I go to answer a telephone call (usually from my wife's Verizon cell phone), it will freeze and not unfreeze until she (or whomever) will finish leaving their voice mail message.

Other unusual, if not just plain weird, problems (also with no known cure) include--more recently--the inability to use favorites buttons (I set "H" for Home, for example). I push them and nothing happens.

I'm a new convert from the 650 to the 680. so far I have not had any issues, and I am very happy with the new phone.

Dial #*377, then hit the green dial button. This should give you information about what caused the last reset, narrowing down the field of potential problems. Let us know!

I have heard of those continual rebooting issues being caused by an incompatible 3rd party application. You might want to check that you have the most current versions of any 3rd party software you use.
