Unlocking Cingular 680 for Tmobile

Hey I just got a cingular treo 680, I was given the unlock code and instructions for unlocking but I am having trouble unlocking the phone. I am a T-Mobile subscriber. I was wondering if anyone could give me some help on this matter. Do I need to have a cingular SIM card in the phone when I am unlocking the phone and then insert my T-mobile card afterwards or can I unlock the phone with my T-Mobile SIM card in the phone? thanks, anyone

The last quarter of this video will be useful for you.
http://680unlock.com/unlock/flash_instructions.html

You should have the t-mobile sim in it.

Thanks for the website, I got it working after watching that video. Now I just need to find out if anyone knows how to set it up for T-Mobile, i.e. messenging, voicemail, internet....

What do you mean by setup. It's all in the sim.

Unless you mean this

I just went through this exact same process myself (unlocked Cingular 680, put in T-Mobile SIM). T-Mobile Network Profiles suddenly appeard in the Network Config at one point. I use the one labeled "T-Zones" as a default.

My problem now is that I can't get MMS messaging to work. Web works fine, Email is OK, text messaging is no problem. MMS, however won't ever receive and only sends under certain circumstances. I've gone over it with T-Mobile. They checked my messaging network (manual) setup (MMS HTTP Proxy, MMS URL, etc.) and they say it's correct.

The circumstances involve the type of network profile I use, which boils down to the APN. With one of the stock Network Profiles, I think "T-Mobile Internet", sending an MMS message locks up at 0%. WIth "T-Zones" profile, sending an MMS locks up at 10%. With a manual Network Profile set up according to the T-Mobile configurator for the Treo 650, using "wap.voicestream.com" as the APN, sending an MMS completes at 100% just fine, but doesn't actually reach its destination if it's outside T-Mobile. Within T-Mobile the message DOES reach the recipient.

Under none of these circumstances can I ever receive an MMS message.

How is MMS working for you? Anyone got any ideas?

Smatt16, if you're still having any problems with other services I can help you because I've been all through the configs.

thanks, for some reason when I first put in my SIM card, the phone didn't read the phonebook or any other settings, but it finally started too after a couple hours - don't really know why. I haven't had any trouble sending MMS messages though, I just sent one to a friend on Cingular and she got it. But I did just sign up for Tzones and I am just wondering how I get my phone to work with Tzones, I'e never had Tzones before so I don't even know if anything is working right. Thanks

I think T-Zones just links you to a certain APN (server?) that handles certain kinds of services. It seems to correlate with their Internet-access service -- when you get Internet access, you get T-Zones. Unfortunately, they abstract it iconically -- they never quite explain what it is.

When I first plugged in my T-Mobile SIM and unlocked the phone, there were no network profiles. I created one with info I found on the web. Then, after I had used it for a while (and rebooted at least once), I noticed that it had automatically created several new network profiles (services in Network Prefs):

T-Mobile Internet
T-Mobile VPN
T-Zones

I would give you the info to set up T-Zones but it's a locked profile and when I click the Edit button, I just get this message box:

"This network service has been pre-installed by your mobile service provider, and cannot be edited"

I can give you the info for the one I manually set up which accesses internet and other services. Otherwise, reboot by taking the battery out, make a call, and then check your network prefs. See if you have the new services.

I had the same problem. I am having trouble connecting to T-Zones now with Blazer. I set up the proxy and blazer options according to t-mobile, but i still can't connect to tzones. Any help with that. i.e. is there a better browser to use or did i need to do different settings or should i just call t-mobile? thanks
