sms message on treo 680 - Treo Forum

Hi All,
I have just joined the forum. I have read with interest posting pertaining to receiving sms on the treo 680. I bought unlocked treo 680 on my visit to USA in Feb end. As is reported by many, I too can not get sms on my treo 680. I have tried all the setting including the help from my Mobile Service provider in Bombay, India.

As soon as I receive a new sms, there is a brief few lines displayed on my treo stating that a new sms has been received with the options to "View", "Go to" and "O.K." No matter what option I click, the sms is then gone forever.

As reported by many, on inserting my SIM Card in my Nokia, everything works as expected i.e. I receive sms, missed call alerts etc. I get a feeling that with every new device released by Palm, some new bugs/incompitablity crops up. I have a TX, Lifedrive and E2. All of them have some bugs or other and there is a classic silence on Palm's side so you start wondering whether Palm is heading for closure. I have over USD500 worth of Palm software which has some incompatiblity issue on newer palms. In desperation I have switched to my Nokia and my faithful T3.

I get SMS messages fine. Perhaps your sim card is causing the problem and is NOT compatible with the 680.

Hi,If your SIM card is older than 2 to 3 years, you better change it. I had all type of problems with my old phone. I changed my phone and finally i discovered that my SIM card was the cause

I think what your problem maybe is that you are receiving flash sms. Our TREOs cannot view those. Now, I am not certain on this. I though flash sms were urban legand, but who knows.
