![]() | Huge Improvement in 680 Battery Life I have to post something positive regarding the battery on the Treo 680...at least on mine. I recently exchanged my first Treo, that died unexplainably, for another one...and was kind of miffed because I had just begun to see some real improvement in the battery life after several full charges. Now...I would have to start all over. To my amazement...after only two full drain/sim & battery in-out/full-charge routines overnight...this new Treo's battery is holding a 60% charge after a solid 13-hour workday!!! I put it on the charger last night at 10:00pm while it still showed 49%. I am stoked!! I am hoping that it will be just like some of you long-time 680 owners have said: "the battery gets better with time".I'm really glad that I chose the Treo over the Blackjack... |

![]() | Yeah, and this was after I did the camera "patch" OTA off the Palm site. The only question now is...why doesn't the battery meter show 100% right off a full overnight charge? The highest so far for me has been 94%. Just kind of strange, that's all. |

![]() | Great! Glad to know battery issue is solved! Regarding full recharging % level... it's really kinda strange. I've got everything above 93% at the end of a recharging cycle... and battery life is similar to your new Treo. Maybe your first unit was wrecked after all.... All the best, WS |

| A Few Questions.... ![]() | I'd appreciate it if you wouold clarify what you mean by "after only two full drain/sim & battery in-out/full-charge routines overnight." What is a "sim"? what exactly did you do: let the battery run down very low and then recharge? at what point in this process did you remove the battery, and for how long? thanks |

-Let phone drain down to where it totally shuts down. You might be amazed at how long it stays on after meter shows 0% charge (my Graphite lasted four hours...my new Crimson, eight hours!!). Ignore the pop-ups that warn that battery is low and prompts to recharge. Let it get to where the pop-up says that the phone is shutting itself down. After it does that, you will not be able to bring it back up. -Plug charger into phone. Pull battery cover off, and remove the battery. Wait at least 60-seconds. Then, remove the SIM card from it's sliding tray. Wait another 60-seconds. After the wait (without unplugging charger), reinstall the SIM and the battery. -Leave phone on charger. DO NOT touch the phone for any reason. Do not reinstall battery cover, press any buttons...leave it alone for 6-hours. -After 6-hour charge, and power light is green...unplug charger from phone. You have effectively recalibrated your battery meter, and "conditioned" your battery. I did it a second time the second night. That is no problem, although many have said that repeatedly draining and full-charging the battery may cause the battery to deteriorate more rapidly than it should. Good luck!! ![]() | |

![]() | There really is no need to leave the battery cover off. The idea is to not have the cell radio on when you're charging the battery back to full. And the Li-ion batteries used in Palms are not susceptible to deep cycling like alkaline batteries are. Don’t get me wrong, any battery can take a dirt nap after being completely drained, but the li-ion technology is not nearly as volatile as some other types. |
