Did you do a hard reset before trying to update the firmware?

Yes, I did all kinds of resets before updating. Still no change.

benh, Regarding your 3G Sim card, I'm fairly sure that Sim is not supported by the 680 firmware. The GSM Edge network will work, so depending on where you're trying to use this Mobily network, Mid East I'm guessing, you should be able to get a non-3G Sim card at any major airport. The question is more whether Mobily supports non-3G phones, like the Treo 680.

It shouldn't matter, I had a 3G SIM in my 680 with no issues. I also believe that 3G networks are backwards compatible, thus, it shouldn't matter even if Mobily's network is exclusively 3G.

Have you had Mobily replace the SIM?
