![]() | Windows Vista and Treo 680 Just got off the phone with Palm and Cingular. According to Palm they are not working on on a patch to fix Treo 680's compatibilty problem with Windows Vista. They said only the Mobile 5 Palms are compatible? So is my 680 as useless as a Jeep with two flat tires? ![]() |

![]() | I sync my 680 with the Palm Desktop I've installed on Vista. The only thing that doesn't work for me is the Palm Install Tool and for that I just copy file to a memory card and install them that way. |

![]() | how did you do the transfer? did you uninstall the programs except the pim's and then re-install them (i understand you can email the programs to yourself and install them from there) or did you just hot sync to windows vista with everything intact? |

![]() | Not fully incompatible... I'm new to the forum but on my third Treo. Using unlocked GSM 680, HP Pavilion dv6000 running Vista Home Premium. I can't get Palm Desktop to load at all, but HotSync with the Palm Outlook conduits works for the most part... Outlook Calendar, Memos and Tasks sync, but Contacts results in the following error sequence: OLERR:02-0016 OLERR:02-000D OLERR:0D-000E OLERR:02-0018 OLERR:0D-0004 OLERR:0D-0001 Completely contrary to the notes on the Palm website, Document to Go syncs just fine. So as usual the various software manufacturers are pointing fingers and denying responsibility. Has anyone tried downloading one of the 4.1.2 versions of Palm Desktop (intended for 650) just to see what happens? It's supposedly Vista compatible. Thanks! Greg |

![]() | I feel your pain. I have been SO frustrated with this whole windows Vista mess. I use my Palm Desktop ALOT. I'm hoping the dust settles on this mess and a fix can be made soon. If I understand you correctly, though...you ARE able to sync your 680, yes? |

![]() | Yep, sync works for all conduits except Outlook Contacts. I'm not sure that one is a Vista problem, but it was working on my XP system prior to getting the new Vista machine, and I don't think I made any data changes that could have caused a problem. Can't get Palm Desktop to load at all, but then I don't use it except for Media, which for me can wait until it's fixed. Although I'm seriously considering wiping this machine and installing XP... It's an HP and even their own printer software hasn't been updated to work on Vista! |

| A Few Questions.... ![]() | Even if you do manage to install the Palm desktop for Vista, good luck preventing it from stalling or crashing during the various sync phases. First date book, then contacts. And of course all you Cingular (or is it ATT again this week?) users have the added joy of the SIM cards that wrote jibberish and the issue where the sound cuts out and the phone thinks there is a headset attached on the 680. The only reliable help I have ever gotten with this Treo is from Treonauts, because Raj, Patel, Jasmine and the rest of the Cingular Smart Phone team in Bangalore are still using dixie cups and strings to communicate and have not even the remotest clue of how to deal with these devices. This treo is the biggest piece of shit I have ever owned in my life. I will RUN to the Cingular or Att tomorrow and buy an iphone and throw my treo 680 off the 59th St Bridge into the East River. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | If I remember correctly, you can set Palm Desktop to run in XP compatibility mode in Vista. I believe this has fixed most if not all of the syncing problems for a the people that have done it. Bill, I'm sorry you've experienced such problems with the 680. It seriously sounds to me that you need a replacement phone, but I strongly suggest not going with the iPhone. You will not be satisfied with it's syncing, anymore so then your 680. And thats just the tip of the iceberg. |
