Check SIM - Treo Forum

Got the 680 yesterday (unlocked). I have Tmobile. Put my sim card in and I get "Check SIM CARD" works fine in my 650. Do I need a new tmobile sim or a new 680?

I would guess one of two things is happenning:
1) Your SIM card is of the older variety and needs to be replaced
2) Your SIM card is not making good contact with the pins inside the Treo

I had an MPX200 that would give me the same error. Turns out it was because the SIM card was not making proper contact with the pins. I slipped a piece of paper over the sim card, put the battery back in, and viola no more problem. You might try putting a small piece of paper on the back of the SIM and putting it in the slot. It may just be a bad connection.

Thanks. I live across from a Tmobile store so I'm going to see if an upgrade of my 32K sim will work

i had a 32k sim in my treo when i first got it and it would do wonky things all the time. got a free 64k sim from cingular and it has never had a problem since.

Thanks guys, got the upgrade (free) and it seems to be working. Fingers crossed. Again no mention of this on the Palm website. So this is really helpful.
