I installed it on our phones and they seem to be losing battery at night again with everything off. MAYBE the battery reset will do the trick but I was enjoying not having to charge except every other day or even three days inbetween. It seems to have f-ed that up. Arrrrggh!!

I wasn't responding here because I thought I was the only one with poor results from the camera patch. I have had no problem with my battery since the break-in period, and I even used the camera off and on. I was very happy. Then the update came and it suggested EVERY Treo owner install it so I foolishly went along with the crowd and installed it. My battery performance has gone down since the camera update. I wish I had never put that on my phone. Live and Learn.

Happy Camper

I'm also happy to report that the patch and the the battery reset works perfectly. So now, the battery drops 1% per hour with the phone radio on. So if it's simply on standby, I get about say 90 hours - that's 4 days with phone radio on all day and night. Amazing. Before the fix, the battery would reache the red bar in about 24 hours of standby (1 day) with minimal usage.

I'm a happy camper now

hi guys. just got my treo 680 and i've installed the patch. there was a significant improvement in battery life after installation. but after leaving the charger on overnight (about 10hrs.) i've noticed that i was back where i started. the battery seems to be draining faster. is it bad to leave the unit charging for more than say 5hrs?

No, you can't over charge it. I'd suggest anyone with poor battery life does the power-connected, sim out reset, as that's what i've done and it works perfectly. Other than that, it's possible to remove the patch, but i don't think you should.

OK, so here is the beginning of another test:

With the phone turned on, connected to Phone Network, GPRS not attached, IR Beam Receive turned off, sound on,

Usage is about 1% per hour

With the phone turned on, connected to Phone Network, GPRS attached and checking e-mail every 15 minutes, IR Beam Receive turned on, sound off,

Usage is about 8.5% per hour

I will be re-running the experiment, so stay tuned.

@ Maris: it's a patch and not a ROM update, so you should be able to delete it and return to your previous battery usage. Might give it a try if the patch isn't working right for you.

Thanks, forgot ... I seem to be doing better today. Did the battery remove/recharge thing and took more pictures so I was covered. I'm not sure which did the trick, but I am back to my usual battery use. Whew! If it acts up again I am going to remove the camera update, but for now it seems OK.

Over the past few days I've noticed significant improvement in my battery. It's 8:45 pm and I'm still at 53%! I'm a fairly heavy user too!

I found on Treocentral site that the Treo650 cradle is not to be used for Treo680. That may be why you are seeing battery drain over night.

Sorry, I meant to respond to gticlay's post.
