SMS Issue on Treo 680 Unlocked - Treo Forum

Hello,

My issue is related to receiving SMS on my Treo 680 Unlocked phone.

I am having some serious issues with receiving SMS on my Treo 680 unlocked. I fail to receive SMS from certain sources...

I do receive SMS, but I am very certain that I am unable to receive quiet a few of them...

I have tested many things... also contacted my service provider (Hutch India) to sort out the issues... and have also tried to use my nokia phone for the same number... and guess what... while using the nokia phone.. i do receive the SMS which i don't on the treo 680.

Anyone else having the same issue? Is there something i can do to fix it?

please help.

Hiya hetul and welcome to Treonauts, maybe you need to put the settings in manually for your carrier, ask them if they have the sms settings for a Treo 680

Hi Kimmy,

I have tried this too... no luck. Actually, I am able to receive some sms... so i dont think that can be an issue.

I contacted Palm about it and they asked me to hard reset the phone. I will try that and see if it helps.

I am going to try it out.. will post the results soon!

I am experiencing the same SMS issue. I have a Treo 680 unlocked. I am using it with PLUS GSM in Poland. I receive all text messages, EXCEPT automatic messages confirming my bank transactions.

Just like with Hetul, I tried switching my SIM card back to Nokia, and everything works fine. I called the bank and the GSM provider. Both said the messages are formatted according to international SMS standards and they are unable to do anything about it. My provider suggested to look for some sort of SMS filters on the device, but I found none.

Ideas anyone?

And BTW, the settings are fine and hard reset did not help.

I Emailed Palm Support about this issue... after a few rounds they said i need to call their tech support. BTW, their email support was way too poor!

I called up palm tech support in the US and they said it seems to be a problem with the phone and suggested a replacement... but I am in India and not going back to US for a few months now... so not sure if that will help.

But you may want to try it out...

Also, i got to know if this problem because i couldnt get my bank alerts! so we have a really common problem.

They think its a problem with the hardware... but i think its the software thats causing this problem.

Anyone else with this issue?

I know that locally (US) people were having carrier specific issues with SMS, but I haven't heard of any issues receiving SMS updates from other sources. The carrier specific issues turned out to be a software thing, and a patch was later released (this was for the 700p).

I bought the phone in UAE, but I live in Poland. Returning/replacing my Treo is not exactly an option.

I'm afraid it is a software problem. Well... Since Palm managed to fix the battery draining problem (after installing the camera patch my battery seems to last for ages), I guess they will figure out what to do about the SMS issue. I will try to get some more details on the message formatting.

Yea, me too... I got the phone from Palm website US througn a friend and live in India. So replacement is not an option... I hope they figure out the issue and release a patch... But i dont know y the tech guy would tell me that it needs replacement.. if its a software problem.. i think it should be true for all devices...

i would encourage other users to try subscribing to such websites and see if they to fail to get alerts...

further more, when you are using a palm treo 680... and about to get an alert from such websites... Try placing your phone near a Landline phone that has Speaker phone and see the disturbance it creates...

I tried this using a Forget Password option on the site which sends a password on my cell phone... everytime i use this option... my phone gets creates that disturbance on my landline speaker phone.

So, the phone does receive some signal of incomming SMS but only fails to display it.
