| A Few Questions.... ![]() | Thanks Comiken205.. You right.. when the screen freeze and I did the soft reset.. It seem that the SMS freeze problem solved.. I did my battery out reset-charge by first inserting the SIM card then the battery after one minute (phone off).. Other instruction is not to insert your SIM card after on minute.. just put the battery.. Should I try the second way? Regards |

| A Few Questions.... ![]() | I am pretty new to the treo 680, and this problem. However, I would like to experiment from afar. I have been reading into this problem quite extensively. I am an electronics technician in the Navy, and this is one of the many things I have to do on the daily. The following steps should not hurt your 680, but are a culmination, step-by-step procedure from all of the preceding replies. I believe that the SIM card should be out for this test. I am basing my assumption off an earlier post, which indicated when connected to power for charging that the phone turns on temporarily and then turns itself back off. If this happens, is the SIM card not being read by the 680 during this process? If so, would this not affect the result due to another earlier thread that stated that you do not want to use any energy unnecessarily? Whoever is going to test this out for me (if anyone is going to take the time to do so, to feed my curiosity) please get your phone and charger together, and follow the steps exactly. Step 1: Drain the battery for your Treo 680 until you are unable to turn it on at all. Step 2: Remove battery. Step 3: Remove SIM card. Step 4: Wait one full minute minimum. Step 5: Re-insert your battery. Step 6: Connect charger to power. NOTE: The next step involves finally connecting your Treo 680 to the power source. From the next step forward, until otherwise said, do not press a button, switch or the screen of your Treo 680. Doing so will use energy, and using energy may throw off the internal meter for your battery, making your painstakingly go through the entire process all over again. Step 7: Connect charger to Treo 680. Step 8: Let Treo 680 charge for 6 hours. Step 9: Disconnect Treo 680 from charger. Step 10: Insert SIM card. Step 11: You may now press buttons, look at naughty videos (I know many of you do), and do whatever it was you intend to do with your Treo 680. Step 12: If this didn't work, proceed to Step 13 Step 13: Drain the battery. Step 14: Charge the battery. Step 15: Repeat Steps 13 & 14 a maximum of 3 times. Step 16: Let me know if this worked. | I made my first post! ![]() | Help I tried this twice. Originally my battery would charge to 96% so I figured I would get to close 100%. After doing a full drain and installing the battery patch after the first try my battery was down to 82%. The next time after doing a full drain again I got 89%. While its better then the previous time, its still not as good as I orginally had. |

![]() ![]() ![]() | 1) How new is your battery? If it is fairly new, "break" the battery in by using it a couple of weeks. Then try the conditioning again. 2) IF it is not new, try the conditioning again to see if that helps. It is posted at the begining of this thread that you may have to try it as many times as possible to get the best possible charge out of your TREO battery. |

![]() | My battery drained to to point where I couldn't do anything at all with my Treo. I decided to try the instructions at the beginning of this thread. This is what I did: 1. Connect Treo to the charger. 2. Remove the battery from the Treo and wait for at least one minute. 3. Remove the SIM card from the device and wait for another minute. 4. Put the battery only back into the device. Now I'll charge the Treo for 6 hours. I didn't press any keys at all. ** I left the SIM card out while charging so no incoming calls would interupt. Somebody in an earlier post said it was OK to do it without the SIM card. I'll post how it turns out once it finishes charging. If any of these steps look wrong please let me know so I don't wait 6 hours for nothing or damage my phone. |

![]() | After performing the charge in the steps I listed above, I got a battery reading of 95% Saturday. I used it only to listen to a few ring tones and to just kind of familiarize myself with my Treo more. It dropped to 90% in about 20-30 minutes. I just left it on my desk and didn't really use it until Tuesday. It showed a charge of 60%. I received one call that lasted about 20 minutes. Bluetooth was on. It dropped to 53%. Then I received another 20 minute call that dropped it to 43%. I have to use my bluetooth earpiece because of a physical disability, so turning it off isn't an option for me. After the first call today, the phone kind of frooze up for about a minute. After the second call, it shut off and it wouldn't even power back on. I got someone to do a soft reset and it's working now (at 41%). Any ideas or suggestions on what to try to help the battery charge hold better and also to keep it from freezing? This is becoming a problem for me! Update: I just received another call that lasted 18 minutes. The battery went from 41% to 35%. It didn't freeze up after this call. |

![]() | The battery will get better over time. Mine took about 2 solid weeks of usage to finally hold a decent charge and give me good usage. As for freezing up, how old is your SIM card? I *COMPLETELY* fixed the freezing problem by getting a new SIM. |
