You should pick up a cheap unlocked GSM phone. TigerDirect seems to have a lot of them:

Good luck!

Bought my 680 in the UK last week and straight away noticed the battery drain. I installed the camera fix on Friday hoping it would make a difference and it did'nt. Yesterday tried the above hoping it would work. Guest what, carried out the instruction to the letter and left it to charge overnight and half of today. Put the sim card back in and turned it on, straight away the battery monitor said 88%.

I've had Nokias, XDAs and just changed from a T-mobile Vario and they all lasted at least 2 days without even being used, the Nokias seemed to last forever before they needed to be recharged.

I think one phone is going back to the shop pretty soon unless this problem is sorted out. I dont think I should have to recharge every night so that the phones not dead when I wake up the next morning.

When I disconnected the phone after the reset it fell straight to 95%. The next charge it stayed 100% for a while and the battery lasts pretty much forever now. Maybe you should wait a couple more charge cycles.

This battery song and dance is BS. The Treo 650 never required such annoying steps to hold its charge. I think there is a genuine problem (perhaps a recall is in order) with the actual device. Blah. Makes me want to deal with worse call quality on the 650 just to have a phone that stays on.

Apart from the camera draining the battery, which is now resolved, the thing with the battery was probably that the first charge, which to any type of battery is always important, was not conducted properly by the manufacturer. This can be resolved by doing the reset thing, just once is enough. I imagine it might be annoying, but its not that difficult so let's just get on with it.
