Question Interesting Battery Field Test

Ok...as everyone probably knows I love my 680. I love the upgrades blah blah yada yada. BUT the battery..... . Sooo...my two best buds...FORMER Blackberry users have listened to me rant and rave about my 680 the first week i had it. So, they both bought 680's. I read somewhere, cant remember where, that the battery issue had to do with the camera software. So heres the test i did.

Buddy 1- Treo 680 out of box charged to 100% *Camera App launched and used once*

Buddy 2- Treo 680 out of box charged to 100% *Camera App NOT launched.

We set the Treos on the pool table in my basement and walked away.

Results:

As of today 11:08 AM EST

Buddy 1 phone 23% battery power

Buddy 2 phone 85% battery power

WOW

Now I dont know what this proves if anything, but it does make me wonder. I thought Id post this and get your guys' opinion.

You didn't actually baseline the batteries to begin with so the results aren't very significant. It's an interesting thought though.

That said, I've been using the phone for a few weeks now and the battery life has been fine since I did 2 deep battery discharge cycles.

Interesting results treorookie, but we'll know for sure if the camera is the problem when cingular sell cameraless 680 and we get feedback from members on how their batteries perform.

I have read this before, but never having had a camera phone before, I have been using my 680's camera off and on and still have decent battery life now that it has "broken in." It took just over 2 weeks before my battery settled down and became trustworthy. Using the camera occasionally doesn't seem to increase my battery drain from days when I don't use it at all.

I bought a camera-free 680 through Cingular Premiere (took 4 weeks to get it...), but I haven't done a true 'test' of the battery. I found out very quickly that having Bluetooth on all the time drags it down quickly. If I can figure out to schedule it, I'll try a test this week. I have class all day on Saturday, and can't go without my 680, so it may have to wait until Sunday.

DEF cdwf...i decided to forgo using my BT headset today; i get up around 6 AM and check emails and news..its now 8:20 and i have 60 percent power.

just an FYI im noticing that the more drains (to 0%) and charge ups (to 100%) the better the battery life. I guess you have to break in the battery of the 680. But hey, it wouldnt be a Treo if there wasnt something to complain about.
