Cingular vs. Unlocked Treo 680 - Treo Forum

I'm currently a Cingular customer with a Treo 650, but I'm interested in upgrading to the 680. I don't want to extend my contract for 2 more years, so my choices would either be buying an unlocked Treo 680 for $399 or buying a Cingular Treo 680 for full price at $449. Does the Cingular Treo have more software or something that the unlocked Treo does not have? Is it more compatible with Cingular data or something like that? Would there be any reason to get that instead of the unlocked one? Thanks.

The only stuff the Cingular branded one has over the Unlocked one is carrier specific stuff like xPress mail. While its great for some, I would go for the unlocked version. You'd save $50 and get your choice of color.

Plus, if you decide to drop Cingular and go with another GSM carrier then you won't need to buy another one.
