3G to get GPRS??

i just bought an unlock 680 and transfer my Cingular sim card over and i can not get GPRS signal. my brother just bought his 680 from Cingular and his sim card has a 3G logo and i tried his sim card and i can get GPRS signal on my unlock phone. my Cingular sim card is about a year and a half old and does not have the 3G logo so i am assuming that it's not a 3G sim card but its a 64k sim card. my question is do you have to have a 3G sim card to get GPRS signal??

You shouldn't need to have one as the 680 isn't a 3G phone.

Your provider should give you a newer SIM card for free, or for a minimal charge. Try that and see if it helps.

I don't think the 3G logo on the SIM card means a thing, I'm using the same old SIM card that I used with my 650 and get 3G data speeds fine on my 750v. It's likely that there is some other difference on the newer SIM's which is why swapping it solved your problem.
