Unlocking Cingular Treo 680 - Treo Forum

Hi everyone, I was given a cingular treo 680. I am currently not a cingular subscriber. Does anyone know if it's possible to get cingular to unlock the phone for me if I'm actually a tmobile subscriber? thanks

probably not. you may have to go through a third party to get it unlocked. try ebay and search for 680 unlocking or something like that.

Just ask any friend that is a cingular user to do it for U. Fast A free. Because I use GSM I swap phones all the time so if they ask your friend can say it's only for travelling.

Well I tried but cingular told me I have to wait until february before I can unlock it. Should I just try again?

when you go there ask for a managers number or corporate number u can call. Worst case, you will have to call and explain to them that u bought the worldphone to go on vacation, and you can not use it unless they unlock it.

I bought my treo 680 a few weeks ago and got it unlocked using "GSM PhoneSource" who I found on ebay (actually the Cingular shop game me the reference since I explained I wanted to use other SIMs when outside of the US). Specifically, the item on ebay is called "Remote Unlocking By IMEI for Cingular PalmOne Treo 680" and it allows you to unlock your treo680 wby simply entering a code that is sent to you in email once you purchased the unlock.

Obviously your a new subscriber. Basically they do it for free for anyone who's been with them for 90 days or more. If you don't need to travel before Feb then just wait since they already told you they will do it in Feb. If your in a rush, just ask ANY friend to call for you.

Hi,
I just got off the phone with Cingular and they quickly supplied me with the IMI unlock code for my 680. No problems, issues, questions or charges.
I have been a Cingular customer for a year and was with Att&t for 2 years prior.
