Unlocked Treo 680 more reliable than ones from Cingular (?) - Page 2 - Treo Forum

I agree. dumped my Cingy 680 for unlocked Palm - much better. Looking for patch to allow user to seclect carrier when traveling and more than one carrier is available and phone keeps switching which hurts call reception

So, is the jury still out or does it appear that the unlocked has less problems? I'm ready to buy my first Treo. (!!!) I may be able to get an unlocked for about $50 more than through Cingular. I have no need for an unlocked phone, but if it is more stable then it may be worth the extra $$$.

I purchased a cingular 680 direct through palm and unlocked it myself. So far so good - I've had it less than a week, but I've added some new apps, and it's still stable. I've read that a lot of the problems users are having is related to cingular's sim cards. I don't have cingular.
