ringtones will not work on 680 from my 650

I hot synced my new treo 680. All of my previous ringtones from the treo 650 are transferred into the 680 but I can not get them to work. I can play the ringtones on my 680 but when I program a ringtone to a caller or to my phone it will not work. What can I do to get them to work?

I don't have a 650 myself, but I have had a lot of luck taking an AMR file from an SD card and moving it to my phone. There was a change in how to copy files from the card and making them accessable as a ringtone from the 650 to the 680. The only reason I know about it is because I found a walkthrough on converting an MP3 file to an AMR file(which is required for ringtones on the 650/680 and probably other Treos.

In the voice memo tool from the main menu, select the amr file you want to use as a ringtone, and then hit the menu key on the Treo 680 keyboard. You will see a option for "copy to ringtone". That MAY help solve your problem. If this doesn't work, you SHOULD be able to copy the AMR file to a SD card, then use the web browser to pull it back: file:///filename_on_SDCARD

I had the same problem after I got my 680. I synced it to my treo 650 profile and the ringtones were on the 680, but they wouldn't work. I then created a new profile to hotsync the 680 and added the ringtones again(emailed them to my phone) and now they work just fine!
