I am thinking of upgrading from my ancient palm (m515) and getting a 680 for Christmas. One problem/concern I have is that I have never been able to Hotsync my 515 and palm never could resolve the issue. In the event of a crash I do backup my data using a SD 16 mb backup card I bought for that purpose.

My question is could I use that card in the 680 and do a restore to load my contacts, calendar, memos, etc. or would the card overwrite the operating system on the 680? If that doesn't work is my only option to beam each entry from one device to the other?

It's very likely that a restore from the card will install incompatible programs and make your new 680 unstable. It would be best to beam the contacts, memo and calendar and other data over, even if it takes longer, then install the newest version of programs from scratch one at a time to make sure it's compatible.
