| A Few Questions.... ![]() | Love It! Hate It! So I got my new Treo 680 two days ago. I love it and was excited to see that I could finally send and receive movies on the T-Mobile network, however, since then, it's gone haywire: 1. Suddenly, without reason, says I have no cellular service. If I cycle the phone, it comes back. This happens about 5 times a day and doesn't matter if I am just sitting at my desk or driving around town. 2. It resets itself if I answer a call within so many minutes of performing a hot sync. 3. It tells me that my SIM card is damaged or missing. When I cycle the phone, but when I cycle the phone, no problem. 4. It doesn't maintain GPRS connectivity. 5. I've missed 5 or so calls already since I've got it. People say they've called me, but no ringing or missed call notification or anything. I'm at a loss. I've tried soft reset, hard reset and running without any third party applications. I've also tried taking out my SIM card and making sure it wasn't dusty or anything and putting it back. I never had these problems with my Treo 650. I kind of miss it. What do you all think? |

![]() | I live in the city and had great reception through T-MO & GPRS with the 650, and now with the 680 it has nearly cut my reception by 50%. I guess thats the price we pay when the sleek design did not include the external antenna. |

| Regular Contributer ![]() | for the first guy. Why don't you drop in a t-mo store and get a new sim. doesn't cost you anything and might fix your problem. #2, The reception without the external is supposed to be better than the 650 due mostly to the new broadcom chipset. Digital phones don't work any better with an unboosted external antenna. Our belief the it does is mostly a legacy of the analog days when extending the antenna actually made a difference. If you read stuff about when they designed the original treo form factor you'll find that the antenna was added as a marketing thing after surveys found that American consumers didn't trust a phone without one. |

![]() | Maybe I'm a lucky one I have had my 680 since thanksgiving. The only complaint I have is battery life. Like I've said in other posts, the 680 still has a better battery than my old moto Q. Since I've turned "beam receive" off, the battery has gotten better. However, one day, whenever I would receive or place a call, the call would be in progress, but I would not hear a ring or voice on the other end. When I put the phone on speaker, I could hear fine. Something was wrong with the ear peice on the phone so I punched it (not hard) . Now it works fine. Strange huh?Cingular service in Jersey/Philly is fine. No problems to report on that end. |
