software problems with 680 - Treo Forum

I just purchased a 680 but the new software won't load on to my computer. Went back to the store and got another one. That one won't load either. Anyone else have this problem?

Hello zpakman,

What computer and Operating System do you have? When you try to install the Desktop software, what error message do you get?

I agree, it sounds like the problem is your computer NOT the treo

sounds like the autoplay on your rom drive is turned off. right click and check your autoplay options.

In my case, the 680 software disk looked completely blank to windows -- not only was there no auto-run, there was no data. I was able to mount it on a linux machine and share out the disk via samba, and the install from there ran just fine.

I don't usually have problems with this machine - I don't know if there's some crazy Sony copy protection on the disk or if it was just bad luck, but maybe it's happened to others also.

I have noticed that if you have a text after the mobile # of a contact, that # will not appear when you are in the text messaging application and thus you cannot send a message to that specific phone !! anyone has a solution ???

I'm not exactly sure what you mean? Can you clarify? Are you meaning that if you have anything other than numbers in the "mobile" field? If so, your right. If your trying to send to an email address, try putting the email address in the contact under "email" and then just type in the contacts name in the SMS app. You will get a number of choices of where to send your message, including the email address.
