| I made my first post! ![]() | Hi all, I have had my 680 for a week now and I am not happy. The battery life is rubbish, the 680 would not last 2 days on standby with phone on, even without use. Before I had a tungsten C which lasted about a week on one charge. I also had a Nokia phone which lasted a week on one charge. Is there any one who has upgraded from a 650 to a 680 who can tell me if the 650 was much better on battery life - I am tempted to downgrade because 650s are going cheap. The only downsides I see are the less memory and form factor. But I don't think I can live with having to charge the phone every night - ruins the convinience of having just 1 gadget for me. Any suggestions? thanks Jenny |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | The 650 has a 1800mAh battery whereas the 680 only has a 1200mAH so even thought the 680 is more efficient it still won't last as long as the 650. Seidio and Boxwave are both working on higher capacity batteries for the 680 though which should even things out a bit more.

![]() ![]() | question is, will 680 users have to get a bulgy battery cover or can seidio and/or boxwave make a high-capacity battery that will fit in the stock batt's place? |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Well the Seidio higher capacity battery for the 650/700's was the same size roughly as Palm's and didn't require a new cover so I'd say yes ![]()

![]() | I'm sure you've already done it, but turning down the back light brightness seems to help the battery last longer. I've had it less than 24 hours and already used 66% of the charge. I turned it down a little while ago and even though I'm still playing with it a lot the battery meter seems to be hanging on better... |

![]() | I received my unlocked copper on Monday....beautiful design and loved the color, great feel but battery isn't going to make it. Every night left it on the ac charger, disconnected charger at 8 AM...with no calls or activity, down to approx 50% by 2 PM.....today had 1 call for 10 minutes (approx) and within 6 hours down to less than 50%.....isn't going to hack it for me. It's going back tomorrow. The 650 lasted at least 10 days with calls before it needed a charge. Will stay with the 650 for awhile. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Sorry to hear its not going to work out for you. If its any consolation over the past few days (I've had mine since Monday of last) my charge seems to be lasting a little big longer. Maybe only time will tell? ![]()

![]() | update---I sent the 680 back to Palm but have been reading these forums since then. Today, I called the local Wash DC Palm store, they had two copper in stock...went down there, the salesman showed that the 650 battery could be used in the 680 and the 680 could use the cradle (that I had for the 650). I'm a sucker....got another one. Interestingly, I put my sim card in, set it up, and it was at 50%. I did some web surfing, some radio playing via the web radio (total of about 25-30 minutes)....and did not charge it. After over 6 hours, it's only used about 15% of the original "out of the box" charge. I'll charge it fully overnight and see what happens tomorrow but it seems the original one I had returned may, in fact, have had a defective battery or was reading the battery wrong. I will miss the "call duration" that the 650 software has and the 680 does not. Maybe there will be a third party app to do this So, we'll see. |
