Keyboard Light Flicker

Got my 680 from Cingular about a week ago and noticed that the keyboard light seemed to flicker constantly. I thought it was a short in the keyboard light wiring so returned it to Cingular for a replacement (no questions asked). The keyboard light didn't flicker until I reinstalled all my software back on the phone. The flicker returned. This tells me that's it's not a hardware problem but some software that causing the problem. Any ideas? My software list includes the following (apart from the stuff that comes standard with the phone):

That's a lot for stuff to have installed in only a week

Really the only your going to know which app it was is to install them one at a time until it happens It may be worth checking the site of the various programs to see if there is an updated version with specific mention of 680 compatibility.

I didn't buy and install the software in one week. I migrated the software over from my 650. I was hoping I wouldn't have to uninstall and reinstall the software. Hoping someone has already identified the offending culprit.

amandla, you might look here and try trackerdog to see if any of these apps has an update. this may help track the problem down. you may want to contact palm directly to see if there's a known issue with any of your apps. another alternative is to install each app one at a time to see if there's a conflict with any of the progs or if it's only one causing the flicker.

Whilst I'm in a guessing mood I'd say KB Lights Off sounds the most likely culprit.

haven't other folks posted problems with KB Lights Off before? or maybe it's a problem with the 680's os.

My keyboard light also flickers slightly.

The programs we have in common are:

FileZ & SoftReset

Im currently using the Arctic and get a Graphite tomorrow so ill see if it does the same thing on that one.

Some more information.
My brightness is pretty low (about %15 - %20)
When I turn it up to 75% there's no more flicker.

Thanks for all the helpful feedback. Ok, I unstalled the programs we seem to have in common (KBLightsOff, SoftReset, FileZ), reset my Treo and checked again. Removing these programs has no effect (the keyboard light still flickers). However, you seem to be onto something regarding the screen brightness setting. When set to around 75% there is no flicker. When set (through the Power setting in Prefs) to anything less than that, the keyboard screen flickers. All of this makes me think that it's a hardware problem (would be interested in others trying this). However, will continue to isolate an offending program.
