680 & WiFi SD Card - Treo Forum

Does anyone know if the WiFi SD card is compatible with the 680. The specs suggest it @ Palm, but there is no specific confirmation of this and no updated reference to the 680 under the WiFi card description.

The issue here is the OS.. Unfortunately the current Palm Garnet OS will most likely never support the wifi cards. We will have to wait for the next generation for wifi support on our Favorite Treo. Hopefully it will eventually be built in and we wont need to waste the slot with WiFi cards. Incidentally though.. the WiFi card is a little longer then a regular SD card, so it probably wouldnt fit in the 680 slot with the door closed anyways..

Garnet does support Wi-Fi as the both the Lifedrive and T|X have it, the issue is with it supporting more than two radios

Thats right. It has something to do with the libs right? Where the radios cant coexist? there is a theory of being able to hot-swap the libs depending on what radio youre using.. but noones done it yet.

It's actually a driver issue. The os can support both radios (actually all three), and it does in the various devices Taz mentioned. Palm has hinted that they might make the move "when the time is right", but lord knows when that will be. IMO the time is right now.
