Unlocked Palm Treo 680 Shipping - Treo Forum

Hi,
Anyone get their unlocked version from Palm yet? Just wondering on when the actual shipping will occur. Sure wish Palm didnt put 'buy' links on thier site till they are really ready.

It's supposed to be in Palm stores on Friday so I'm betting that's when it will ship as well.

The unlocked Treos will be shipping from Palm beginning December 1st. Hopefully I will be near the front of the list so I will get mine before they run out of stock and I'll have to wait 'til they get more in. Ahh well.... more waiting.

actually, the 680s are already shipping. palm is having issue with distribution channel and huge volume of orders. people who ordered on nov 21st (i.e. west coast people who got in right when it posted online) should have theirs shipped monday/tuesday as palm keeps sending out their inventory -- some have already shipped

those who ordered on nov 22 should have theirs ship sometime at the end of this week/early next week because of the volume. palm is sending them out as soon as the distributors get them the handsets, but that has been slow

also, color is not supposed to be a factor in shipping (i.e. they are not shipping the crimson before the copper, etc) -- they get the same amount of handsets in each color. now, you just have to be at the top of the list to get it soon!

Thanks for the info gina but I still feel like I was lied to. Customer service told me that the unlocked ones were being shipped December 1st. so that was no help either. Least they could do is keep their call centers more up to date on what's going on. All he kept saying to me was that it is being processed. I thought I was talking to a machine at first. LOL. Again, more waiting... zzzz. I just hope I'm at least in the first batch of orders to go out to the east coast. I don't think I want to wait until NEXT Christmas for it.

Side note: Hmm west coast people getting it first... this doesn't have anything to do with Tupac and Biggie does it? Hehehe. Just wondering.

Oh well so much for inside info. No wonder they're giving away free overnight shipping. Overnight shipping from 2 weeks from now. Lol. I purchased the crimson, hopefully not to many people want that color and I will get mine soon. I liked the artic white but I think it looked too iPod-ish. Nothing wrong with iPod just tired of seeing white devices everywhere.

I've learned over time to never trust any one I talk to at either Cingular or Palm, as far as release or shipping dates. I just call everyday and bug the crap out of them.
