![]() | It's been quite a while since my last post, but I really need your guidance. I have a 3 year old 680 that within the last two or three days has begun to act up. When I press the phone key it initally goes to the home screen (the one in the middle) but then it switches to the contact screen. When I attempt to move it back using the navigator button it goes back to the home phone screen but then it goes back to the contact screen. I also notice that I am unable to delete or purge any of the calls made on my phone. The drop down menu key sometimes works and sometimes it doesn't. If the menu shows, the delete function sometimes works and sometimes it doesn't. I also got an error message when I clicked on Ptunes. It said the system crashed the last time I used it. I don't ever remember using it. When I attempted to delete Ptunes, I couldn't. Anyway, I have tried a warm reset and a hard reset but nothing seems to work. Also, the only third party software on the phone is MiniTones. Could it be that it is time to get a new phone? Any suggestions??? |

![]() | LotusLord, Thanks for your response. In response to your question, "Did you restore right away after the reset?", yes. I too am surprised the hard reset did not clear it up. My phone continues to act up, but not as badly as before the hard reset. I'll continue to monitor it. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Before syncing, did you remove the Backup folder in your Palm folder? What happens after a hard reset is that the Treo and Hoysync talk. They notice that a hard reset took place and then ithey sync everything back from the Backup folder. What you need to do is remove the backup folder. Don't delete it, just move it somewhere else. Next time you sync, only your contacts, memos, task etc. will sync with your Treo and not the bad software. So give that a try and see how it helps.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Sounds like either a software conflict, a corrupted database or app, or a hardware problem. I'd recommend trying it out before you sync anything back (after doing the hard reset). Check the navigation keys and since the basic version of Ptunes is in ROM, check that out too (with one of the built in songs). If everything pans out, then do a selective restore from your card. Restore your preferences, etc. and then check it out again. Finally, restore Minitones. Minitones shouldn't cause these problems as people have been using it for years without these issues. However, if the problem returns with Minitones, then take a look at MusicTones, which is also freeware. Then when you go to Hotsync, I would recommend Comiken's advice about changing the backup file name. While I agree wholeheartedly with Comiken's advice, I'd hate for you to go to that trouble, only to find out there was a hardware issue. Best wishes! Stu
