ZLauncher Prefs

I downloaded a copy of ZLauncher from this site (via mobihand via the Treo itself) to try out on my new Treo 650. I have used ZLauncher in the past, so I know how configurable it can be. The problem I am finding is that the default font colors and background pattern for the Top and Bottom Bars makes it hard to see the text for the various icons (battery, memory, date/time, etc). I have gone into ZL Prefs, selected the Top/Bot. Bar tab, and then selected "Pattern" (either Top or Bottom, doesn't matter), de-selected "Use Built-in Background Image", and then selected a custom color for the Background. This works fine, I can now clearly see the text. However, as soon as I go to some other app and then back to ZLauncher, the background color reverts back to the default white, and I can no longer see the icon text. The same thing happens when I individually assign a font color via Tap-n-Hold on an icon (battery, date/time, memory card, etc): I can set the font color, things look great, but as soon as I use ZLauncher to launch am app and then come back to it, It has reverted back to the same font color which is hard to read against the default background.

Before I plunk down my hard-earned credit for the software, I'd like to know if this is
a) a bug in the version I downloaded,
b) a limitation of the demo nature of the program
c) a bug in the version of the default Theme that comes with the launcher.

The version I downloaded from this site was 5.4. I am using the default Theme that came with it, which states that it is for the Treo.

Thanks for the help.

Have you tried any other skins? I have tried several skins that act poorly, but appears to be a problem with the download. There are many skins at 1SRC. A favorite is the Vista and the Alienware skins. I have never had the problem you described, then the last time I used the default theme that came with ZLauncher was when I first used the program about four years ago.

You may want to try reinstalling the app. I am using 5.41 build 060417 with no problems.

I have do believe the downloaded version is the full working version. The unlock code only enables long term use. There maybe a few features like using JPEGLIB to set the back ground that is locked, but you should be able to see the entire working screen all the time.

Good luck.
