| Member ![]() | easiest way to transfer music is by sd card but the music form itunes you can't play on your treo due to DRM. -Unless you have not upgraded to itunes 7 then you can get an app by dvd john called jyhmn or something like that. That can decrypt your purchased itunes music and then allow you to transfer the music to your handheld. If you have itunes 7 you out of luck the only thing you can do is rip the purchased music to cds and then reimport them. After you re-import them then you can transfer the music to your sd card. Re-importing them will take off the DRM so then you can transfer the music. The music that you imported from cds doesn't have DRm so you can just transfer those right away. Google dvd john for more info on his site and apps. -Next I recommend having a card reader or get some kind off app liek card export. With a card reader you can simply open itunes and click and drag the song to the sd card. (be sure it is mp3 or any other formats that ptunes or whatever media player your using can support.) If you don't have a card reader then try card export ( i think that is the name.) or just search the software store which will allow you to use your treo as a card reader and allow you to transfer the music just like a card reader. ( if you can understand what I mean't) -Then if you have ptunes go into open and then find your sd card and open the music. Sorry, about my run on sentences but, got a little lazy. I hope you can understand if not I'll post it clearier and complete next time. Hope that helps? |

![]() ![]() | Welcome 867-5039, I had a little look around and there's several iTunes plug-ins and external programs that will sync your iTunes with just about any removable storage device. You don't mention in your profile what platform you're on (PC or MAC) so I couldn't get more specific. The main issue as I see it is then finding a Treo media player with understands the resultant files. I haven't tried them myself but I suspect some will un-obsfucate the file names whereas other will basically fool itunes into thinking it's talking to an iPod. As you may know iTunes does it's very best to make it impossible to work out the file structure when simply browsing the files. Let me know how you get on though, I'm curious as there's a few people asking similar questions... Here's the search I did in Google to get you started... forget the first result, it's old, but the rest are pretty interesting. If I were you I'd go form one that translates back (un-obsfucates) your filenames so that almost any media player will work with the resultant files. Regards Steph

![]() ![]() | LOL! Saw this odd user name on the visitor's list, which looked chinese/japanese to me so I clicked through and got all the messages from that user - whose name magically turned into a number. Then red'em! Haha I didn't even check the date! ~ Steph

![]() | The only media player that I'm aware of with an iTunes direct sync is mOcean. It also has several iPod skins. If you haven't tried Normsoft's Pocket Tunes V4x, I highly recommend reviewing it. My wife is a dyed-in-the-wool iPoder, but has about 18,000 tunes.....so, in order for me to "steal" tunes from her, I transfer directly from her notebook using my hotsync cable and Softick's Card Export. You'll want at least a 2g card for some tunes. Pocket Tunes has no trouble playing mp4s. With it, I can also get internet radio, which I've found to be far superior to the internet radio function of mOcean. Also, .........and I cannot say enough about this...........update your firmware to version 1.20. You can find which version you have by hitting your menu button and selecting "info". The update performed several important functions for me, including enabling me to fully use my Motorola S9 headset. Updates and tons of software are available at Palm, Inc. - Treo and Centro smartphones, handhelds, and accessories ....look for SWC (software connection) and register. Finally, (and this goes for ALL Treonauts)..... Your Treo is an amazing device, capable of dazzling things, if you take the time to understand it, and the steps to protect it. Many people complain about the Treo's "bulk", and so look for a thin, "stylin' " case. I've had my 650 for 3 years. It's in PERFECT condition. I am a cabinetmaker by trade, and it's always on my belt. How do I do this? One word........ Otterbox. Specifically, the Otterbox 1920. Please Google it. From my point of view, "sleek and stylin' " are great for cellphones. But buying a Treo because you want a great cellphone is a bit like buying a Ferrari to deliver pizza. I can make calls on my Treo. But I can also do everything from find the latest flight info for any airline in the world (including checking current flight status) to GPSing my way anywhere, to playing any of about 100 or-so radio stations, to using it as a comprehensive, interactive star catalogue to watching movies. My list goes on, as I'm sure many others' does. Protect your Treo. |

![]() | Hmm.. I also have iTunes, V. 7. All my songs are protected. I'd suggest having like a CD+/-RW drive, and having a CD-RW you can burn your music onto, once it's done burning, you can re-import them into WMP or iTunes, (Make sure WMP doesn't save the songs as .wmp) then you can erase the CD-RW and re-burn using iTunes your other songs. Once this is all completed you can copy it to your SD/MMC and enjoy. This task is very tedious (Spelled right?) I'd love it if there's a way to play protected content on the Treo's. |
