Dent on Touch screen

Ok...I'm new here...Hello everyone.

I somehow put a small dent into the touch screen (just outer layer) of my 650. I ordered a new one and removed the damaged one and installed the new one. Now my touch screen doesnt work at all. I cannt calibrate it (is that the right word?)

So I removed the new one and put the old one back on...now that one doesnt work either. I followed the directions only so far because I wasnt replacing the entire screen, just the outer cover....It looks as if the inserts are in as far as they go...I have tried a hard boot but nothing still...what am I doing wrong.

I ordered the piece on Ebay and they are sending me a replacement.

Debra

Welcome to Treonauts

It sounds like a connection issue, I'd remove the connector and reconnect it making sure it's in fully. Did you follow written instructions or the video linked to on here?

I followed the one on Youtube..I have taken it apart and put it back together so many times I am now afraid to do it again...it's 3 of those belt like connections and the very tiny one for the touchscreen is the one that is scaring me...it is starting to look like the flap is going to break off now.

With all due respect treotosh "what do you use to take it apart?" and you use a torx T5 to remove the screws.

Does the screen boot up at all, and just doesn't respond to your touch? If the screen is booting up, and you can navigate around with the 5-way navigator, you may have something in the edges of the screen that is pressing on it. Try taking a toothpick and sliding it around the screen at the edges where the casing is covering it.

If thats it, let us know. If this isn't your problem, let us know a little more info and we'll see if we can get it figured out.

Yes, the screen boots up..I tried to do a hard reset. I can get only as far as step 1 of 2 where you tap the screen. I can navigate with the 5 way...yesterday I was able to get to 2 of 2 but not today. Do you think I possibly made everything too tight? or maybe too loose and it isnt making a connection?
Help..I am back using my Moto Q and I HATE IT.
