Very New to Treo and need help with ringtones - Treo Forum

Hello all,

This is my 1st Treo and I am very excited to get started. One of the 1st things I want to do is assign ringtones to my contacts. I have read some of the post and are a bit confused...again I'm sorry.

I am not Treo or tech savy. I have downloaded audacity and created a clip of the song I want as the ringtone. I dont know what to do from there.

Is there any way domeone can help me with either an easier way to do this or with some sort of a walk-thru for dummies?

P.S. Ever since I got my Treo I have been on this website ALL THE TIME....this site is great and so is everyone on here. Keep up the good work and thank you for being so helpful.

UPDATE....

I have a song (mp3)...when i open up the Palm Desktop it gives me the option to move to handheld or expansion card.....

It will not let me drag to the handheld so I move it to the expansion card.

When I go to my Treo and look @ the card, there is nothing there...Am I doing something wrong?

You can use a free program like MiniTones to create ringtones on your device with songs you have on it already. Then go to a contact, hit edit, and there will be a drop down spot to assign a ringtone.

Thanks all.

I have minitones and have trimmed my ringtone.

I went to my contacts list, clicked the drop doen menu but when I goto edit I donot see any option about ringtones. I see Undo, copy, paste, select all, etc.

am I in the wrong place

Click on the particular contact you would like to assign the tone to, then edit that contact. You should be in the same place you are when you enter an new email address, phone number, ect. Within this screen you should see the drop down list that will allow you to assign a ringtone to that contact.

I followed everything up to where there should be a dropdown to assign a ringtone. I dont have that dropdown.

I am at the screen where I can add an address, assign a picture, fax, birthday, custom 1, 2, 3, etc

no dropdown for ringtones
