![]() | Looking for help with Bluetooth/Hotsync setup I just bought a used Treo 650 and I'm trying to set the Bluetooth up so I can hotsync wirelessly. I have a Toshiba laptop w/built-in bluetooth running Windows Vista (32bit) which has the latest version of Palm desktop software and Hotsync. The laptop can detect the Treo as a bluetooth device and I've been able to send files to it. The Treo can discover my laptop, but this is as far as I get. I set the laptop up as a trusted device on the Treo, and I've set up a 'connection' type (in prefs) with communication to pc over bluetooh and I specify that connection in my hotsync setup, however it won't go any further. When I try to sync, it times out and says it couldn't connect. I also set up a virtual serial port on my laptop (Com 7) and specified that Com Port in the serial setup of hotsync on the laptop. I'm lost and have run out of ideas after scouring the internet for hours on end trying to find answers. I'm not getting why this doesn't work if the two devices are detecting each other and I've been able to send files from the laptop to the Treo. I even temporarily disabled my firewall in case it was interfering. HELP!!!??! Tks... |

![]() ![]() | Welcome to treonauts viddy! We are glad you are here. Sorry you're having problems. I used to have a 650 but I am on the 750 now for over a year. I am sort of remembering that bluetooth hot synching was problematic with the 650. I will try to refresh my memory and look in the 650 forum for any help and get back with you. |

![]() | Hi Viddy.... Well I can't help much either on account I have XP. However a question... I take it you are using the Vista Palm desktop not the normal Palm Desktop. Might be one thing....? As to Bluetooth synching it's real slow and I don't recommend it. I tried it a few times with XP and finely gave up. Sorry I don't have any good suggestions. ![]() |

![]() | Well, I figured it out - kinda. I was doing my usual browsing for Treo goodies, and came upon a program called Softick PPP. It claimed to provide a ppp connection for the Treo via usb and wireless (BT). Within 5 minutes of installing it, I had my Treo hooked up to my laptop with the usb cable, and I was surfing the net on the Treo via my laptop internet connection! After that I connected painlessly and on the first attemp using Bluetooth, and VOILA, wireless internet surfing, courtesy of my laptop internet connection. I have no idea what was missing with my original bluetooth setup, but this little puppy provided the missing piece! If anyone wants to try it out, here's the link -:: Softick : |
