Can't Get PDF Email Attachments To Open - Treo Forum

I have a Treo 650 with ATT/Cingular service. I am unable to open PDF attachments to email (use Versamail and a POP3 server). I can see the attachments, when I click I the message "Do you want to accept (file name)... I reply "Yes" and receive an error message "Failed to receive beamed document." When I hit choice "OK" I get this error message "Error: Database: corrupt database 0x0209". I have unistalled and re-installed Adobe Reader 3.05 for Palm OS from both my Treo 650 and my laptop several times and I still get the message.

What is really weird is that if I Hot Sync an Acrobat file from my laptop to my Treo 650 I can view the PDF - it is only getting them from email to open that is the issue. I can open other types of files from email (WORD, Excel, ...) Any ideas? ATT could not help. Thanks in advance.

Not sure I can help you, but I did want to welcome you to Treonauts. I'm sure someone will come along who has some experience with the GSM palms that can answer your question.

Doesn't Documents to Go do this?

I know it says it can open PDF files.

And yes the link to that forum is right the Adobe PDF reader for Palm OS needs to have the PDF file converted into a Palm file format before it can open it.
Adobe's PDF reader is very limited in what it can do on the Palm.
It shouldn't even be called a PDF reader, because it clearly is not.
It is a PDF converter for the Palm OS.

welcome to treonauts bcueny we are glad you are here. If thats your email address you might want to change your user name to avoid spam etc. The error message appears to say that you have a db which needs to be repaired or disabled, Not sure how to do that I am not on palm os anymore now have the 750 on wm. Someone with att palm os experience should be along soon to help with your issue.

Yes, the newer versions of DTG will do this. As for the Adobe reader, yeah.....reader is really kind of a poor name.

stuartrayner posts about a freeware PDF reader for Palm called MetaViewSoft - PalmPDF.
It looks very interesting.

Hi,

Perphaps the pdf attachments are corrupted. If you need to recover them, you may try a tool called Advanced PDF Repair. I have used it to repair many corrupt PDF files successfully. Hope this helps.
