backlight failure - Treo Forum

Just wondering if anyone has had experience with this......my backlight on my Treo 650 no longer works. I've adjusted the backlight duration to the 3 min max (and all other the other possible settings) without result. Additionally when I take the battery out and then put it back in the Palm OS screen will light up (so at some level it does work), however from then on there is no backlight. Any solutions to this? Thanks.

Sync and then try a hard reset. Maybe a 3rd party app is conflicting with a power setting.

Unfortunately in trying to perform a hot sync my computer isn't recognizing my device. Other than that it continues to work fine (without a backlight) ........now I'm really stumped.

Well, like LL said, have you installed any 3rd party apps lately, or changed anything?

Actually just the opposite, I hadn't performed a hotsync or installed software in over six months.

What does your computer do when you plug your Treo into it?

I get "USB device not recognized" prompt. I've tried all three USB ports with the same result......?

Make sure the Hotsync icon is in your tool bar, otherwise open it yourself from "All Programs." Then try again. If it still doesn't recognize it, you may need to download the Palm desktop again.
