download ringtones and songs

Hello can someone please tell me how to download a song to my treo also ringtones. do it in a simple manner as I am new to this. I tried to download a song from a cd but not luck. Thanks for any help I can get.

ok, here's what i do. i rip the song i want using musicmatch or something similar. i then use motorola mobilephone tools to extract a snippet i want to use. copy that song snip to a card using a card reader and use ringo pro or some equivalent to set it as a ringtone because if you import a tone using the installed software on a treo, the limit is around 62 kb and my rings are larger than that.

There's a simple way to turn mp3's into ringtones, use minitones , it will allow you to choose any mp3 and it will then be listed in your miditones under sounds.

How to use minitones

Launch MiniTones
Tick which track you want to use as a tone then tap "add Selected"
Your Mp3s will appear in the Midi sounds collection


How to rip a cd with windows media player:

Insert an audio CD into the CD drive, and then click the Rip tab.

By default, the Player begins ripping the CD automatically when you are in the Rip tab or switch to it after the CD was inserted. You can also choose to have ripping begin immediately upon inserting the CD, or you can turn off automatic ripping. For information about changing these settings, see Change settings for ripping music.

(Optional) As the Player begins ripping the CD, clear the check boxes next to any songs that you don't want to rip. Or, click Stop Rip, make your selections, and click Start Rip to restart ripping. (Partially ripped songs are not saved.)

After the songs have been ripped, you can find and play them in your library.
