unlocked GSM - dropping calls - every call - Treo Forum

Good morning (or afternoon/evening) for those of you on the other half of the planet).

First post, so consider this my welcome, and first attempt at soliciting help.

In the past two days, I am not able to maintain a call for longer than two minutes. Sometimes the call will go to 7 minutes, then it will just go silent, even though the call is still showing as active. After the call goes silent, 20 seconds elapse, and then the phone hangs up. It's very odd, and happens regardless of where I am (this is been consistent in 3 different time zones across the last 2 days).

Any thoughts? I'm thinking it's either a SIM card issue, or something is amiss inside my Treo.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

who is your carrier? T-Mobile or Cingular?

I'm on Cingular. This just started happening in the last two days. I just tried this morning, again in a new location, and no call will last more than two minutes. The first call of the day goes to seven, but every subsequent call kicks out at two minutes.

Very odd.

which sim card do you have, the 32k or the 64k? it made a world of difference when i took my treo to a cingular store and they replaced it for free. backup, hard reset and if that doesn't work, go to a local cingular store and tell 'em what's up.

I've been having exact same problem; I think it's a conflict with some program that has a timer. While I have not figured out what CAUSES it, I HAVE determined this:
If I push the alt key (the black one next to "z") every 15 seconds or so, I can continue talking indefinetly...
Check and see if this is the case with you...
If so, then we'll just need to isolate what's causing it....
