Setting contact default category

I just got a new 650, and am very pleased with how easy it is to set up. I am having a couple of difficulties that are different from my Sony Clie' and old phone. When turn my phone on it automatically defaults to all of my contacts. This makes it very difficult to locate my most used numbers. I have identified those numbers in my QuickList, and now want to make that my default contact list. How do I do that? (I use ACT as my contact manager if that makes a difference)

I have also transferred a couple of 3rd party applications that I use, Iambic, and Teal Auto and in the download they added some extra icons to my desktop. How do I remove them? On my old version of Palm, I could edit my desktop and remove those that I don't use.

If my memory holds, try this: While you're in Contacts, hit the menu button and go to >Options>Preferences. Once in Preferences, check the box "Remember Last Category" and click OK. It doesn't really set a default (which I don't think you can do) but if you use QuickList the most, at least it will start there each time since it was the last category you were in.

JSTNT: Thanks for getting back to me. I was able to figure out the icon problem, but in Contacts, the only pull down that comes up is to the categories. No edit, options, preferences or any thing. :-( I will keep looking. Chuck

If your looking for the general menu drop downs in the default contacts list, you can get to them two ways. Click in the top left corner with your stylus, or hit the menu button on your keypad. There you can get to the preferences menu like jstant said.
