Hey Guys

I'm a newbie!

I've had my 650 for over a year. AND....all i have ever done is receive calls and texts. I am absolutely clueless about this phone and it has so much potential i figured i better tap into it b4 i totally kill the thing (hey, i'm good for dropping stuff)!

Anyway, I have a cingular brand phone that is unlocked. I use it with a local carrier, no big names. I have never synched anything and never loaded any updates.

What is the process for updating the Palm software? And seriously, i need this in a language a 2 year old can understand because i truly have not one single tech savvy bone in my body.

SORRY, i know i'm asking a lot.......but HELP ME! PLEEEEAAASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Treos are very durable

Don't worry about breaking the treo. the most likely part to break is the screen which is easy to replace.

With the update you can download the updates from Palm - Support - Select a Country
but be careful if you don't follow all the instructions carefully you could brick your phone

But even a bricked phone can be fixed

just follow all of the instructions on the website and you wil be fine

Welcome to Treonauts!

You are not asking a lot at all

People have asked 7 or 8 things in posts before.

so if i go to palm and do an update, do i do the one for unlocked phones or the one for cingular phones? i tell ya, i'm clueless..........

oh yeah, i dont even know if i can update. during one of my "drops" the bottom is kinda messed up. i can't charge the battery thru the plug anymore, i have to take the battery out an place it in the spare battery charging compartment of my base to get it to charge. so will the cable not work either? (hmmm...if i can find the darn wire)

You will need the cable to work

Try plugging in the connector then banging down on the botom of the connector by the wire (it tightens the connector)

Does the phone say palmOne or does it say cingular?

If you want something non-cingular buy a used unlocked 680 or 650 or some other phone

off of eBay

(my Treo 700p is on it's way) or it should be a 700p it might be a 680 but it is probably a 700p

The latest version is for at&t now (was cingular)

You will need to install this: Palm - Support - Treo 650 Updater (AT&T, including Cingular Wireless version)
