Treo 650 Mp3 ringtones - Treo Forum

I downloaded Minitones, and copied an mp3 file to my SD card. The phone plays the tone OK...but when the mp3 file is assigend to be the ring tone for an incoming call, the mp3 file doesn't play...the last ring tone that I had used is what plays...any thoughts out there?

When you used Minitones to create the ringtone, did you keep it on the SD card or transfer it to the main device memory?

I believe it is in the main memory...it shows up in the drop down list of ring tones. I also assued that mini tones transferred the mp3 to the phone memory as pat of the import process

It does, I was just making sure it worked correctly. Have you tried a soft reset? Sometimes this clears up any minor issues. If that doesn't work you could try deleting the ringtone you made and try again.

Well...I did everything you suggested, soft re-set, deleted and re-installed the ringtone...alas...it still doesn't work. It's just puzzling and I know I must be missing something obvious...that the ringtone shows in the drop down list, plays if I click on it, but won't play when assigned as an incoming call tone...

Do you have it assigned to all incoming calls? Or do you have it assigned to like, known caller or roaming call, etc.? Because you can assigne different rigntones depending on you. Like I said, known caller, unknown caller and while in roaming.

I had it assigned to known and unkown callers, just added it to roaming, and it still doesn't work...frustrating...

What type of file is it saved as on your phone? You can use Filez to it and look at its properties.

I have had the issue when the song doesn't play. I think that if it is VBR it won't play and if it is CBR it will or the other way around. Pretty much to put it to you in lamen terms. If I ripped it, can't play it. If I downloaded it, then heard it.

How odd. I haven't had any problems with the ones I've ripped. Do you rip yours with a VBR?

Have you tried a soft reset? Sometimes this clears up any minor issues. If that doesn't work you could try deleting the ringtone you made and try again. __________________ Don't drink the water, fish have sex in it.
