Charging Via USB? - Treo Forum

So I bought a Treo Accessory Kit, and I am actually kinda thrilled that the included Sync Cable also charges the phone. I have a real tidy desk and all cables run through a nice cable "hose" to keep all neat. No I never liked the std. sync cable with the detachable power cord, WTF two cables!. I dont use the cradle 'cause my silicone skins wont let the phone snap in place. So my question is, is it fine to charge via USB?

yeah it's perfectly fine to charge the phone via USB.
I still don't know why palm doesn't ship the treos with a power over usb cable.

The included cable actually does charge the device, only in a trickle charge. Its so slow that the device doesn't even recognize its being charged.

Just curious, how did you determine this?

I have two friends with the 700p (Sprint). Their phones both show that they are charging when plugged in via USB. I thought maybe their cables were different, but we tried plugging my 700wx into their cable, no charge. Then we tried plugging their 700p into my cable, and it showed charging. So, definately not a cable. thing.
