MP3 Ringtones? - Treo Forum

Hi. I'm new to this forum and just bought a used Treo 650 that I received yesterday. I'm so excited! Does anyone know if it's possible to set an MP3 as a ringtone? I downloaded an MP3 ringtone, but it will only play in RealPlayer. Any help would be appreciated!!!!

You can get the program RingoPro, which will let you select any mp3 for use as a ringer, and even let you asign individual ringtones to different people in your phonebook. You can also get MiniTones, which will convert any portion of an mp3 song into midi format that the Treo can use. As far as I know, you cannot download mp3 ringtones for the Treo like you can for other phones, but maybe someone will correct me on this.

I had to erase this program for my 680: it took me weeks to discover that ths was the cause for my Treo to crash on incoming calls with hidden caller info.

You'd better check if this bug has been solved before buying the software!

I've never used the 680, but had Ringo Pro on my 650 with no problems. Worth a try.

I know what you mean! It played havoc with my 755 and I wanted to pull my hair out BUT, if you liked Ringo and it's been a while ago since you had the problems, you might be able to give it another go.

They released an update in June to resolve some issues with the 755p (and it seemed to work) so maybe those changes addressed the 680 issues too?

I had a similar problem. I have installed MiniTones two times on my Treo 650. Whenever I go to actually "make" the ringtone, the phone shuts off and shuts back on. I deleted and reinstalled the program and the same thing happened. Any ideas?

Always make sure you have the newest version. Minor changes in the Palm OS can break older software and cause hassles and headaches.

Are you saying to make sure I have the newest version of Palm OS? If so how do I go about checking my version? and where would I go for an update? Please advise.
