| A Few Questions.... ![]() | Which Firmware? I just bought my first Treo, a new unlocked Cingular Treo 650 which my best friend will be delivering to me soon. My question is if I check the firmware and it needs to be updated which one should I use, the unlocked version or the cingular version? I was reading and it says the cingular firmware will revert things back to factory settings and I imagine that would mean it would lock the phone again. So I am guessing I should use the unlocked version of the firmware? Like I said my first Treo and my first PDA for that matter however I have used them and sold them working at Radio Shack for 8 years before I switched careers. Thanks in advance. The Blackman |

![]() ![]() | the best way to figure out which updater you need is to go here and read the instructions. if your phone's software version isn't listed under the cingular update, use the unlocked updater. |

![]() ![]() | well, i'd try the cingular update first because if something goes wonky you can still zero reset the thing and get it back to where you first had it. keep the unlock code handy as well. |

Could I do the zero reset if I used the unlocked version of the firmware? Oh and thanks again because these are things I hadn't thought of.The Blackman | |

![]() ![]() | yikes i have no idea about the unlocked software. is it for sure cingular branded and unlocked to use on any gsm network or an unlocked unbranded unit from palm? you need to find which case it is and then go from there. |

![]() ![]() | i found this over on tc. i'm sure it sheds more light than i could. when you get the phone, make sure you check the fw/sw; you might already have the most up to date. |
