| I made my first post!  | Unlock my Cingular 650 for Verizon? All, I've been a Cingular customer for quite a while, and the amount of dropped calls lately is absolutely untenable. I think I know why it's happening (have a friend who works there - he says it has something to do with Cingular updating their network from "3G" to "4G"), but no matter what the reason I just can't take it anymore. I wanna pay the $200 and switch to Verizon soon. I've Googled the h*ll outta this question, and seemingly can't find a straight answer. Time to turn to the experts!  So.....1. Can I unlock my Cingular 650 to work on the Verizon network? 2. If yes....can someone send me a link to a walkthrough? 3. If no....could someone take a moment to explain why I can't do it?   | No. Verizon uses a CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access) digital network. Cingular uses GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications). Not even remotely compatible. Frank |

| Hi I guess, your best bet is to sell it and use that money to buy out your contract and sign up a new contract with the other GSM provider and get a newer treo. Regards, Harzinder

| Unlock Sprint treo for Verizon I recently got my hands on a Sprint branded Treo 650, but I want to use it for my Verizon plan. They are both CDMA, so it should be easy to convert, but is it? Do I have to do something special or do I just have to ask Verizon to connect it to my line? |

| you have to ask verizon to activate it. they don't have to, so remember to ask nicely. you'll probably have to pay some type of activation fee, so be prepared for that. also be prepared for the possibility that the esn is not cleared for use on their network, but you won't know that until you speak with a verizon csr. good luck and welcome to the forum!

   | Sell the one you have that's for Sprint and get one for Verizon. Or wait until next month and get a 755p on Verizon. |
