Unhappy Chocolate messed up my Treo mic! PLEASE HELP!!!

Hello all,

First time poster, so hello and thanks for reading:

Normally I'm very clean and anal about my Treo. But sometimes the holiday season relaxes one a little too much:

I put a piece of Xmas chocolate in my pocket, and without thinking put my Treo in my pocket as well. I forgot about the chocolate sharing a pocket with my precious treo, and when I finally took it out I found the chocolate melted all over the bottom of my treo! It seeped into my charger port, my hotsync port, and my microphone I've managed to clean most of it out of my charger and hotsync port, and they work okay, but my microphone is jacked up now. My callers can barely hear me when I speak through it, and needless to say I can barely hear myself when I sound record off my treo.

My question is this: Can my microphone be saved if I take apart the treo and clean it? If so then how? I have an ebay warranty but I'm not sure if they cover this. In fact, I bet they don't since it was totally my fault. And I don't know if VolumeCare will help it either. PLEASE HELP WITH SUGGESTIONS!!!

Thanks in advance

THANKS dude!!!

Tazuk,

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE LINKS AND ADVICE!!! I checked out the video, went to Sears for a T-5 torx bit driver, took apart my phone (whew, what a process) and I found TONS of caked chocolate all around my ports, and elsewhere on the bottom of the phone. My microphone had chocolate blocking the hole, so I used a tiny needle to gently scrape the chocolate out. Now my callers can hear me, and I can record audio just fine. I don't know if it's as good and clear as it once was yet, but I'm gonna get VolumeCare soon for enhanced audio. My phone still isn't perfectly clean, but at least most of the chooclate is out except for a few smears around the ports.

Just one other question: Is there any way I can put a wee bit of water, or another safe product to clean the chocolate bits and smears that remain inside my phone? I didn't use any type of liquid to clean, only a dry paper towel, and that didn't clean up the mess 100%.

I might swear off chocolate from now on as a result of this...NAH!!! But I'll be even more anal now. Now onto putting my ShieldZone on my Treo

Thanks,

-Treopendent

You can use water on the casing, assuming that its separate from the innards, but I wouldn't use it near the electronics One possible solution is to use a damp cotton bud.
