Treo 650 will not sync with desktop - Treo Forum

My treo will not sync with the desktop computer. I get an error message that says "The connection between your handheld and the computer could not be established"

I have tried resetting the treo with intermittent success. Now it never works and I cannot sync at all.

I have tried to search for answers to this problem but most people seem to just have a problem with certain applications not syncing. I can't even get the computer to recognize that the treo is there.

A fried of mine took my sync cable and used it to sync his treo so I am pretty sure my cable is OK.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

try reinstalling your palm desktop and hard resetting your phone. copy your backup folder to a different folder as well. you may have a corrupted file on your palm that's keeping it from syncing or the desktop may be corrupted. i had the same trouble a while back and this process cleared up my problems.

This happened to me about a month ago. In the end I found that the connections on the bottom of my 650 were dirty. They made a clean connection to charge the phone, but not a good enough connection to register when trying to hotsync. It may sound odd, but now I make sure to blow off any dust on my connections prior to a hotsync and I haven't had a problem since.

Thanks for the help. I tried cleaning the cable with no luck. The Hard reset and reinstall did the trick. Hopefully it lasts.

hey i have the same problem and i've had my phone for about a year.

it seems as tho the cable's are wearing out and i have to put pressure on them in order for it to work. it also seems as if my comp is having trouble recognizing that there is a hot sync trying to happen. as soon as i put pressure on the cables it works fine. does anyone know where the cheapest place is to buy the cradle for it??

my solution for everything - ebay. the treonauts store also has cradles for sale. either way is great.
