SD card slot on Treo 650...help!

Hello all.

I have posted this problem on the Palm forums to no avail. So, I now turn to you all.

I purchased a Treo 650 used, and the SD card slot is not working. The phone is only 5 months old, and the prior user was very careful with it. I've tried everything suggested on Palm's site. I've performed a hard reset, and nothing. It just reads "No card inserted" all the time. I've tried Palm brand cards, SanDisk SD cards, and Lexar cards...but nothing works.

Can anyone tell me if there is a file that I could be missing that disables the SD slot? Anything like that...?

That doesn't seem right.

That many cards can't all have read error or wrong formats.

I'm assuming you've

- updated the firmware
- checked all the obvious things
- tried cards that can be already be read in a pc
- had look into the slot for contact obstructions

If it's five months old you should consider claiming on the warranty. The phone will have a build date associated with the serial number so it should be ok even if you don't have the original purchase invoice.

have you tried to format the card in the treo? that makes a difference with some cards i've used in the past. good luck!

I've tried pretty much everything. I have the latest firmware from Palm, inserted the card every-which-direction (not upside down, of course), used many different types of cards (all SD, but different brands, all of which work find in my PC and digital camera), and have cleaned out the SD slot, including the contacts. They've all been formatted and/or deleted entirely by myself, and still nothing.

I can't format the card in my Treo, as it does not recognize a card being inserted.

I'm going to a Sprint store on Sunday to have it tested/fixed/replaced (which ever they do), as this phone is very young, still under warranty, and the SD card slot is an important part of it (for its user, of course...maybe not for Sprint).

Yep I'd claim on the warranty frankly and given it's age ague for a NEW phone not a reconiditioned one.

If they manage to fix it, like anything electronic, once it's opened up and it's factory magic bubble burst, it might happen again... and again... and again.
